Dusenddüwelswarf ----Santa´s story

After seizing the village of Meldorf (near Nordhastedt ) the army of the Danish king advanced, but was stopped at a barricade, with guns
The defenders opened at least one lock in order to flood the land. The land quickly turned into morass and shallow lakes.
Crammed together on a narrow road with no solid ground the Danish and Dutch soldiers were unable to make use of their superiority.
The Dithmarscher peasants, however, were familiar with the land and used poles to leap over the ditches. Most of the Danish and Dutch soldiers got drowned. The Danish and the Dutch lost more than half of their army- about 7,000 were men killed or got drowned.
